If you are worried about someone drinking and driving, SPEAK UP!

Alcohol affects judgment and someone who has been drinking may not realize that they are not fit to drive safely. If you find yourself in a situation where a grown-up who you think has had too much to drink is supposed to drive you somewhere, here are some things you could do.

If you are worried about a parent's drinking, immediately talk to your other parent or another trusted adult. They will know how to handle the situation.

If you are away from your family, share your concerns with another adult. For example, "Mrs. Smith has been drinking. I don't want to ride with her. Will you help me call my mother?" Tell the driver how you feel. For example, "No, Uncle Bob. I'm afraid to ride with you. Let's call mom (or grandpa or friend or other trusted adult) and have her pick us up."
