Most families made by adoption are "Forever Families." It’s important for adopted kids to know this. Children who have been adopted are cared for, raised, and loved by the parents who have adopted them. Adopted kids love their parents too. They are a family!

Sometimes, adopted kids will know their birth mom or birth dad, even though they live with and are cared for by their adoptive parents. Some adopted kids might also have pictures or a letter to remember their birth parents. Other times, an adopted child might find or get to know their birth parents when they become older. Some adopted kids might never have the opportunity to know anything about their birth parents. Each situation is different. One thing to remember is adopted children will have very important memories and connections with their Forever Families!

It’s important to remember every family, biological or adopted, is special and unique!

In unusual situations some adoptive parents can't take care of their child and that child has to go live with another family. This is very sad and doesn't happen often.
