Ear wax is one of your body’s many important helpers that works constantly to keep your body clean, germ-free, and working well! Ear wax is made naturally by your ears to trap dirt, dust, and germs and keep them away from you important and sensitive inner-ear.

Ear wax gets its recognizable yellow-orange color from what it’s made up of! Ear wax is made of an oily discharge released in the ear mixed with your body’s sweat, the normal bacteria on your skin, naturally dead skin cells, and any dirt or dust captured by it. Depending on how much of each is in your ear wax, it can take on different colorful shades of yellow, white, orange, brown, and other colors. Some of the color of your ear wax is also determined by your family’s history and where they come from!

Now “hear” this!

Did you know that aside from ear wax, you also have tiny little hairs inside of your ears? For most people, you can’t really see these hairs at all, but occasionally people have some longer hairs.

According to Guinness World Records, the title as of 2010 for the longest known ear hair belongs to a man from India whose amazingly long ear hairs are over 7 inches long! Whoa!!
