Cancer is an illness which can be very difficult to treat. Some people who get cancer are able to get better, while sometimes others are not. Many people who get cancer receive strong medicine called chemotherapy. Well, sometimes the disease is stronger than the medicine and the medicine stops working. Sometimes that means that the body of a person who has cancer will also stop working because the medicine cannot help anymore. That person dies because their body stopped working.

Cancer is not something you can catch, like a cold or the flu. The medicine we take for colds and flus can help us feel better and most people die only when they are very old or very very sick. Everyone in our family is very healthy and strong. It is very sad when people die. We will all miss that person and we can cry about that, tell funny stories about our time with them, and laugh at the funny things they did. The person who has passed would want you to laugh too.
