Why do grown-ups drink alcohol? |

Older kids may be curious about why some teenagers choose to drink even though it is both dangerous and illegal for them to do so. Some teens drink to “look cool” or to feel more grown up. What they may not know is that alcohol can harm the still developing brain and can cause many other problems, like feeling sick and getting into trouble with parents and police.
Grown-ups drink alcohol for different reasons. Some like the way it tastes. Others enjoy drinking when they get together with friends. Most people think drinking a moderate amount of alcohol is okay when it is used in responsible ways like these by adults.
Other people drink too much alcohol for reasons that aren't so positive. They may use alcohol because they think it takes their problems away. But drinking doesn't solve problems. In fact, it can make things worse.
