Sour power! – You’ve probably noticed something about foods like lemons and limes… they can be really, really sour!!
Lemons and limes have their sour taste because they contain a lot of something called “citric acid.” Citric acid is an organic substance that occurs naturally in lots of plants, but because lemons and limes have more citric acid than most others, they have an even more sour taste!
Citric acid is helpful for lots of things. It’s often used to make flavorings (did you know it’s often used in sodas??) and can also be used to help with cleaning! - Neat!!
