Seeds come in lots of different shapes and sizes.  There are the tiny seeds on the outsides of strawberries, and there are the large seeds inside avacados that are bigger than golf balls!

But, think even bigger than that! The largest seed on earth can grow to twelve inches long, almost three feet around, and weigh 40 pounds! It's the double coconut.

Reaching that size isn't easy though. It can take up to 10 years for these seeds to fully ripen and be ready to grow into a new tree!

If you want to know where to find them, these seeds grow on palm trees on the Seychelles islands, in the Indian Ocean.

Where are the seeds in the fruits you like to eat?  Strawberries have theirs on the outsides. What about peaches and nectarines? How about pumpkins or squash?

Some fruits are tricky, like bananas. We don't see their seeds because they are grown specially so that they don't have them. If they did have seeds, every time you took a banana bite, you'd have to spit out a few  seeds!
