What is creativity? |

Creativity is probably something you already know a little bit about. When someone is creative, it means they think in new, interesting, and unique ways that are unlike the ideas of others!
Creativity comes in lots of shapes and forms. Let’s say a painter makes a picture of a garden, but switches around the colors that everything should be! The grass is blue, the sky is yellow, the sun is purple, and the clouds are plaid. Someone who comes up with that idea has creativity!
Even though lots of people think of creativity as something that goes with art, it’s actually something that shows up in lots of other places too! For example, inventors and scientists use creativity. A car mechanic who creates a new kind of tires that keep drivers safe in the snow has used creativity to think of his idea! A doctor who thinks up a really good new treatment for a sick patient has had to be creative as well. A chef who invents a new dish is creative, and a football player who thinks up a new play is creative too!
Everyone has the ability to think creatively. When you think in new ways, you can let your creativity shine!
What are some of the most creative things you’ve ever done? Maybe you made up a new way to sing “Happy Birthday,” or you invented a fun new game on the playground!
What do you think are some important qualities that go along with creativity? For example, being independent goes well with creativity because it can give you room for new ideas. Being willing to try new things also goes well with creativity! What are some other examples you can think of??
