Draw your own Trojan Horse!
Take a piece of paper, some crayons or pencils, and get busy creating! See how many little soldiers you can put inside the horse. What color is your horse? Does it have a tail? Don't forget to add some wheels so that you can pull it inside the city of Troy!
The term “Trojan Horse” comes from a Greek story about a 10 year war with the Trojans. During this war, the Greek army was trying to capture the city of Troy and they weren't having much luck. So they built a big wooden horse on wheels and left it as a gift or a peace offering for the Trojans. Then the Greeks got back in their boats and pretended to sail away.
The Trojans, thinking the horse was a symbol of their victory, moved it inside the walls of their city. As nighttime came, Greek soldiers who were hidden inside the horse suddenly climbed out. They made a surprise attack and captured the city of Troy. Pretty sneaky!
Today people use the term “Trojan Horse” to mean a false gift or something that is hiding its true purpose.
