Do you know how to play any musical instruments, or love listening to songs? If so, maybe some day you’d like to become a Music Producer!

The job of a Music Producer can involve any one of many different tasks, but the ultimate goal of most Music Producers is to help musicians produce great songs and great albums!

In some cases, a Music Producer will work as a sound engineer, helping to mix songs during the recording process. Music Producers also sometimes work with the artist on the arrangement or lyrics of a song by offering suggestions and feedback; in some cases, the Music Producer even participates as a musician and plays an instrument during the recording of a song!
Music Producers are often coaches for the musicians they work with and are usually also responsible for handling things like schedules, money, budgets, and funding.

To become a Music Producer, the most important thing to have is a love of music! Many Music Producers are also musicians themselves, or at least have studied an instrument even if they don’t play regularly. Knowing about music history and music theory helps too. Some people study specific things in college to help them become Music Producers, such as Sound Engineering or Music Management. Like people in lots of other careers, Music Producers often work hard for many, many years to earn their success!
