Though models have been used in art for centuries, the title of first "fashion model" is usually given to a French woman named Marie Vernet Worth, a shop assistant who worked with (and later married) the designer Charles Worth in 1892. Another famous model is Lisa Fonssagrives, who appeared on over 200 magazine covers throughout the 1930's, 40's and 50's, and is known for her work with photographer Irving Penn.
Some famous models from the past few years include Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen, and Christy Turlington.

Because modeling involves a lot of traveling and stress, it is very easy to fall into unhealthy habits - one should always make sure to eat healthily, get enough sleep, and exercise, no matter what their profession is!

Here's what fashion model Cindy Crawford has to say about her job:
Cindy: I never thought about becoming a model. I didn’t know that was something a young girl from DeKalb IL could even want to be. But a local photographer from my hometown asked to photograph me for the local paper and that's what got me started. Then I discovered that I liked being in front of the camera and working with the photographer, makeup artist, hair dresser, stylist and art director to create beautiful images.

A fashion model works with designers and companies to display new clothes, accessories and trends, often appearing in runway shows, photo shoots, or collection presentations. Sometimes a photographer or designer will work especially well with a certain model, and their collaborations will inspire a whole new generation of designers and artists!Though models have been used in art for centuries, the title of first "fashion model" is usually given to a French woman named Marie Vernet Worth, a shop assistant who worked with (and later married) the designer Charles Worth in 1892. whyzz: As a fashion model, what is your typical day like?
Cindy: A typical work day for me means showing up at the studio—usually around 9am. The team all talk about what kind of pictures we want to do that day. I then sit in the makeup chair for about 2 hours while the makeup artist and hairdresser do my hair and makeup. After that, I put the clothes on and then step in front of the camera. Usually the photographer gives me direction so that I know how he wants me to move in front of the camera. When the photographer feels comfortable that he has the shot, we move onto the next one. We usually do about 6-8 shots in one day.
