How does sunscreen work? |
The sun is very helpful to lots of things on Earth. It helps to warm our planet, it helps plants to make food, and it gives us light! However, the sun’s wonderful light also contains some harmful “ultraviolet” or “UV” rays that can cause you to get a sunburn which can be harmful to your skin and your health.
Luckily, we now have sunscreen, which is able to help us prevent sunburns when it’s properly applied and used regularly!
Sunscreen works like a shield against lots of the harmful UV rays of the sun. The ingredients in sunscreen mostly either block or absorb these rays to keep them off of your skin. It’s important to follow guidelines for how much to use and when to reapply your sunscreen, and it’s good to keep in mind that sunscreen alone isn’t always enough. – It’s also a good idea to also do things like wearing a hat or heading to the shade after a little while!
Protect yourself!
We wear sunscreen to help protect our bodies from sunburn and the pain or damage that can cause.
What are some other ways in which we take care of our bodies and protect them from harm? Examples might include washing your hands to get rid of germs and eating healthy foods to provide yourself with vitamins and nutrients!
