| With Po Bronson, Ashley Merryman is the co-author of the New York Times best-seller, NurtureShock: New Thinking About Children (Twelve/Hachette). Bronson and Merryman have written on the science of child development for Newsweek, Time, New York magazine and many others. They currently write an online daily column for Newsweek.com. For their work, they've won: American Association for the Advancement of Science's Award for Best Science Journalism, a Clarion Award, the Mensa Press Award, and an award from the Council on Contemporary Families. Prior to their collaboration, Merryman's journalism appeared in The Washington Post and The National Catholic Reporter, and she has appeared on television and radio shows seen and heard around the nation. Merryman holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts and a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University's Law Center. She lives in Los Angeles, where she has directed a small all-volunteer tutoring program for inner-city kids for 10 years. |
