whyzz is the definitive resource for parents and caregivers with curious young children! whyzz provides parents with kid-ready information about how the world works so they can satisfy their kids’ thirst for knowledge with read-aloud answers on endless topics. Using content from experts and well-known organizations, whyzz also advises parents on talking to their kids about serious issues with insights into questions and advice for discussing tough subjects like death, illness, safety, and more.
The Writers and Experts who work for whyzz research the topics they write about in order to learn the facts and then “translate” them into terms that kids can understand. Research sources include reference books (dictionaries and encyclopedias), in addition to websites from reputable organizations such as museums, zoos, universities, or government branches. Most articles display a list of their sources at the bottom of the page.
Many articles are also contributed to whyzz by institutions, non-profits, and organizations interested in promoting their cause and educating parents and their children. whyzz believes in fostering children’s imagination while explaining the complex facts of the world. The content published by whyzz encourages parents to keep up the dialogue with their children, and encourages children to seek further knowledge through exploration and inquiry. As a building block for its young audience, whyzz supports children becoming open-minded individuals who have respect for all living creatures and natural habitats.
Based in New York City, whyzz was founded in 2008 and consists of the following members:
Constanze Niedermaier, CEO/Founder. - The creator of whyzz, Constanze designed the initial concept for the whole project! Day-to-day, she works on developing the new features, content areas, marketing tools, and partners that help whyzz to constantly grow and improve! "My aspiration is to build whyzz into the most definitive and reliable resource for anything related to kids' why questions!"
Mya Kagan, Head Writer. - Mya is the voice of whyzz. Constantly researching new facts about how the world works, Mya is responsible for answering all of those questions and developing the style for new content areas. "Finding kid-friendly ways of breaking down the world is as fun as it is challenging. I've learned so much from answering questions - I feel like a walking encyclopedia!"
Lauren Orkus, Content Manager. - Lauren specializes in finding content sources for whyzz's tough issues category and forms partnerships with experts and organizations, making whyzz a stonger resource every day.
