Exploration: Sea monster story-time!
When you've sat and wondered about sea monsters and whether or not they are real, have you ever wondered if there are any sea monsters who might be friendly??
Make up a story about a friendly sea monster who becomes pals a little boy or girl at the beach! What is your friendly sea monster's name, and what does he or she like to do for fun? Does your friendly sea monster like to go skate-boarding under the water? Maybe he likes baking sea-cookies for all of his friends!
While there are some pretty big or weird creatures living in the oceans and seas, you can relax knowing there are certainly no “monsters” among them.
The biggest creature in the ocean is the blue whale, which is actually a very gentle creature that is nothing like a monster! Certain species of octopuses and squids can also grow to be very large, but because they live very far down on the ocean floor, you’ll most likely never see one unless you’re at an aquarium.
It is normal to be a little unsure of what might be in the water at the beach, since sometimes the water is dark and you cannot see through it. You should always follow the safety rules of the grown-ups you’re with or the lifeguards at the beach, but since there are no monsters down under the surface, don’t be afraid to have some fun, too!
