NO! Kids do not cause divorce!

Still, kids often wonder if a divorce is somehow their fault. You may wish you had behaved better or tried harder to please your parents. Perhaps you remember times when your parents argued about something you said or did. Maybe they even had a huge fight!

One thing you can be certain of is that parents make their own choices. Nothing you said or did made your parents choose to divorce, just like nothing you can say or do will make them choose to stay together.

Divorces happens in all kinds of families with all kinds of kids. Even parents in the most “perfect” families with the most “perfect” kids sometimes choose to divorce. It is never a child's fault when parents choose to end their marriage.

Did you ever wonder if something you did caused your parent to divorce? Talk about it with your mom or dad.

Draw a picture that shows how you are feeling right now. Show it to a parent or other trusted adult. Tell them what the drawing means to you.
